
Three Things You Can Do Now to Boost Your 2011 Social Media Program
The end of December is almost at our doorstep. Have you gotten everything you can from your Social Media program this year? Are you on target for next year? If you’re already planning for next year, (and we hope that you are since it is already December), here are three things you can do now to help boost your efforts for 2011.
1. Decide on your goals.
What exactly do you want your Social Media to do for you? Companies are finding success with their online efforts in a number of different areas, so it’s important to figure out what you want and then tailor a program around that specific goal.
For instance, some companies are using Social Media to extend the reach of their customer service departments and are incorporating it as part of their Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems. Public Service of New Hampshire is a great example of this. They use their Twitter and Facebook accounts to provide customers with critical information during storms and power outages. Customers are also using it to report power outages in their specific locales to PSNH.

Tuesday, October 5th was all about monitoring. Social Media monitoring that is. As part of FutureM Boston, the week long educational marketing event, global event organizer InfluencePeople hosted a day long event called “Monitoring Social Media”.
Some two hundred Social Media practitioners from around the world gathered at the John Hancock Conference Center in Boston, MA to discuss and learn about the finer points of monitoring tools, techniques, and theories. The event was sponsored by Constant Contact and BrandWatch.
