Social Media Breakfast is a learning forum for marketers and small business leaders dedicated to understanding more about the online world of marketing and how to gain traction using the new online social tools available.

Bryan Person first started the event in the summer of 2007 when he kicked off the first Social Media Breakfast in Boston. Since then it has grown to include more than 40 locations throughout the US and the world. New Hampshire has participated in the Social Media Breakfast format since January of 2009 when Leslie Poston of Uptown Uncorked brought the event to New Hampshire.

Various hosts and sponsors have welcomed the event in a number of New Hampshire cities and regions including Portsmouth and the Seacoast area, Nashua, Manchester, and even the Lakes Region.

Listen in on the recent “Chamber Report” a weekly WSMN talk Radio show produced by the Greater Nashua Chamber of Commerce to hear ActiveEdge’s Marketing Director Diane Vautier talk about the breakfast held at Rivier College in Nashua, NH.

The next Social Media Breakfast (SMBNH) is Friday, October 29, 2010 in Manchester, NH.  You’re invited to attend.

Social Media Breakfast NH Revisits Nashua

Karen Cooper of Rivier College welcoming guests to the SMBNH Nashua.

This past spring ActiveEdge volunteered to help bring The Social Media Breakfast NH (SMBNH) to Nashua for the first time.  It was a smashing success.

This fall, we were able to once again bring the Social Media learning experience to Gate City businesses and professionals.  Working alongside SMBNH founder Leslie Poston of Uptown Uncorked, the Friday morning  event (9/17/10) drew roughly 55 attendees for a morning of education and sharing.  The topic?  Online brand management and dealing with crisis or bad PR through the use of social media.

The event, graciously hosted at Rivier College, featured a diverse panel of speakers. First up was Kim Gagliardi, Nashua based PR Communications Manager for Dow Jones. Kim detailed an example of dealing with negative press by listening, developing a response plan and adapting the response approach based on each specific incident. Her even keel, no-nonsense approach was an informational step-by-step plan for helping companies manage brands online and mitigate damage.  A real how-to guide for small businesses.

Social Media Breakfast Comes to Nashua

On Friday, May 21, 2010 The Social Media Breakfast New Hampshire made it’s debut at Millyard Technology Park in Nashua, NH where roughly 85-90 attendees gathered to listen in on the conversation surrounding the burgeoning topic of Social Media.  ActiveEdge was fortunate to be able to sponsor the event along with DimDim’s Kevin Micalizzi.

Although the nationally organized Social Media Breakfast has been around for a few years, 3 to be exact, New Hampshire has more recently started joining in.  The Nashua event marked the 12th of it’s kind in New Hampshire, thanks to Leslie Poston of Uptown Uncorked in Portsmouth, NH who brought the event to the area.

So what is the Social Media Breakfast? Their own web site says it best:

“The Social Media Breakfast was founded by Bryan Person in August 2007 as an event where social media experts and newbies alike come together to eat, meet, share, and learn. Marketers, PR pros, entrepreneurs, bloggers, podcasters, new-media fanatics, and online social networkers are all welcome to attend.

The breakfast series began in Boston and has now spread to 40 cities throughout the United States and around the world.”

Pretty impressive for a Beantown local, and a winning combination for the various business communities, like Nashua, who are reaping the benefits of local experts sharing how they do it, what works, and what they’re still struggling with.  It’s a great learning venue for those interested in finding out more of what Social Media is and how it works.

If you missed this Social Media Breakfast, don’t worry.  The next one in Nashua is scheduled for September. But if you just can’t wait til fall, check out other Social Media Breakfast events throughout the state at SMBNH.org, or follow ActiveEdge on Twitter, we post about them.  See you all at the next one.
